Martin Samuel used to write for The Times, but obviously went to the Mail for the balanced political outlook…
A bit unlikely as a solution – boycott Coca Cola and Adidas until they pull their FIFA sponsorship, not least as Adidas were notorious themselves in the early 90s with Bernard Tapie’s Marseille regime, but money is the only way to hurt these morons – a big part of the money thrown at FIFA is from sponsorship. TV rights as well – and frankly an English boycott of watching the tournament has more chance of success given recent performances and the legendary campaign of 2010.
The legacy info on South Africa after the tournament is interesting, if not surprising.
