A wonderful long morning spent at Millbrook testing ground yesterday. Up past Luton.
Bentley day. Primarily to test drive the new V8. The entry level Bentley. But needless to say the 3 x W12 620bhp SuperSports were far more interesting. I couldn’t get out of the thing. It was black, with yellow slots in bonnet, yellow ‘supersports’ logo all down lower door, yellow piping on black leather seats, yellow dash facia, and yellow gear change paddles etc. Fkk off yellow, too. In your face, but it grew on me quickly. I loved that car. I was so hyped. I had it airborne (really) on the alpine route. The brakes caught fire. Flames. The straight mile saw me get 164mph before having to shut off. Not bad. It is supposed to do 0-60mph in 3.7 secs, but somehow it didn’t feel it. Maybe ‘cos the Bentley is 2.5 tons. I was driving it like a go-kart in Benidorm – throwing it around – left and right weight transfers were all taken in its stride. It was wonderful. Its handling was excellent.
The 500bhp V8, on the other hand, was a disappointment after all the time spent in the GTSS. I am sorely tempted. What a wonderful day. 🙂
