Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas already in talks with Roman Abramovich over plans for next season
Andre Villas-Boas has revealed that he has already begun discussing plans for next season with Roman Abramovich, Chelsea’s billionaire owner.
Abramovich was at the club’s Cobham training base again on Tuesday following a visit on Saturday prior to the 3-3 draw against Manchester United.
The Russian also spent around 30 minutes talking to the players after watching them concede a 3-0 lead against United on Sunday. Abramovich has been conspicuous at Chelsea in recent days after being largely absent while he was involved in a high-profile court case with former associate Boris Berezovsky.
Chelsea are currently 14 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City but, while Abramovich has previously shown limited patience with managers who are struggling to challenge for the title, Villas-Boas is confident about his position. “Roman is always very interested in the running of events and it was good for the team to feel his presence,” said Villas-Boas.
“We touched a little bit, of course, on next year’s project but mainly on that (United) game. Roman is a very educated person to the cause of Chelsea Football Club and his aura is always present.”
