Pricing at the Bridge.
We’re ripped off, basically.
I’ve always said that. Whilst I do spend more than most with the pre-match tapas or Brazilian meals, I wish to express my disappointment at the pricing of tickets at the Bridge.
The price of tickets at top flight football is scandelous, with my own club at or very close to the top of the ‘charge tree’, I totally agree that the real fans, who have the clubs in their blood from early age, cannot now afford to go week in, week out.
At the Bridge we are in danger of losing the new fan base. The younger ones who would be filling the older guys’ shoes as they ‘retire’. The Bridge is priced so that it sells out for each game, no matter what competition, by way of pricing at the very top of what they can get away with. They add in ridiculously high loyalty points for the smaller games to try and entice people to go. 8 points for a Genk home game yet just one soilitary point for a european away game. It’s bollox.
And I can honestly say that if we had still had Boas at the Bridge they’d have seen half the season tkt holders disappear this close season.
The season tkts come on sale after people don’t renew by the renewal deadline on a loyalty point basis – last year those points required went down to zero. Yes, zero. If someone wanted one then they got it, even if they’d never sat foot in the Bridge before. We have 25k season tkt holders apparently. It is speculated that we lost between 1500 and 5k last close season. I have been offered 2 sets of 2 plus another single right now. This week. I took the extra single for my brother in law, who is paying for it. Another guy may take one of the pairs, but they are east stand, although on the half way line. People are taking a break, at least.
So, 25k season tkt holders at the Bridge. The millions of members Gourlay rants about can’t sell out the other 15k tkts available for the smaller games without the massive loyalty points offered swaying many to make the decision to spend the money.
We have many foreigners at the Bridge as well. Every game I see people trying to find where to go with their tkt – they don’t even know what stand is which. It’s a tourist attraction.
I’ve always been truthful on this priocing subject, and am certainly a realist when it comes to football.
And if the truth really be known, if I could somehow get it out of my system then I’d stop paying the knts. My missus would be happy then too. 😉
