Gary Cahill’s season turned around in January, one could say!

A Chelsea player for a little over four months, Gary Cahill is reflecting on his acquisition of two winner’s medals already, a far cry from the relegation battle he exchanged for Stamford Bridge in January.
The 26-year-old was enduring a tough season at Bolton Wanderers before joining us during the winter transfer window, but had to be patient before making his debut against Manchester United in early February, gradually imposing himself and forcing his way into the side. Injury against Barcelona in the semi-final second leg looked as though it could rob him of a place in the Champions League Final, but the Chelsea medical staff worked hard on him, and fellow fitness doubt David Luiz, to get them fit for Munich where they put in a sterling shift to help us to our first ever European Cup.
‘It is a dream come true,’ Cahill said afterwards. ‘When I picked up the injury against Barcelona I feared I wouldn’t make this game but I am thankful to the staff that got David and I back. It’s absolutely amazing.
