Victor Moses next on Chelsea wish list as Eden Hazard pulls the strings to overcome Wigan challenge
Roberto Di Matteo was thrilled with the debut of £32 million midfielder Eden Hazard in Sunday’s comfortable 2-0 win but has not ruled out adding Wigan striker Victor Moses to his squad by the end of the week.
Both Hazard and Moses were acclaimed by the visiting Chelsea supporters as the European champions started their campaign in style. The Wigan winger was serenaded with choruses of “We’ll see you next week” and his manager Roberto
Martínez accepted the player could go if a £9 million valuation was met.
But the afternoon belonged to the Premier League’s most expensive purchase of the summer, as Hazard inspired two goals in six minutes. “Hazard showed all h is quality,” said Di Matteo. “He was outstanding, linked well with his team-mates and was a threat.
“He’s got great technical ability, the burst of pace and can play with his back to goal. He has lot of good characteristics.”
After his initial impact, Hazard was on the receiving end of some robust challenges, although Di Matteo had no complaints.
