Chelsea cruise to victory over Norwich City despite the distraction of the row over John Terry and Ashley Cole
Whether you love them or loathe them, it is impossible to ignore the impact John Terry and Ashley Cole are having on both club and country.
Talk of the ‘Toxic Two’, as they are becoming known, was everywhere before, during and after Chelsea’s routine victory over Norwich City on Saturday. On television and radio and what used to be called the terraces, opinions were divided on football’s least favourite players, depending on whether the hue was blue or not.
Many Chelsea supporters still see them as victims of a conspiracy following the race row that has hung over the club like a dark cloud since Terry racially abused Anton Ferdinand almost a year ago and Cole backed his team-mate, in court and at the Football Association’s regulatory commission.
Home fans sang their names on Saturday, while away supporters jeered their involvement in the almost friendly way that embodies the spirit of Norwich.
