I thought we looked very good in midfield and going forward (except torres) for most of the game. They had 5 mins in 1st half and the first 15 mins of the 2nd half where they looked dangerous – plus a few attempts on goal (although most were shots – not close pressure). Cech made a couple of good saves. But that doesn’t take away how good we looked. I was concerned when we got caught cold early doors in the 2nd half – then defoe did a clever flick goal to put them in front. And I didn’t think they deserved that as I honestly think that they looked shit in the 1st half. I didn’t see the yank, either, only when he was being subbed. They obviously missed the monkey-faced Bale.
I reckon we looked very good for the best part, with just a few scary moments at the back – which is becoming par for the course this season. As for the shite – they will struggle for 6th, watching that today. Torres was too slow to most balls. And too slow on them when he had it – although some nice flicks and turns past players – he just takes too long after that and gets caught or swallowed up. But how good is Mata? And the other two – Oscar & Hazard were good, too. A nice attacking midfield, there. Mikel played well, but he did get lucky once, when he was closed down by two of them after turning into trouble.
They did get a chance to sing their droning mong-song for 10 mins, whilst they were in front, so it wasn’t all too bad for them.
Funny at the end, after the 4th goal – all singing, ‘Is there a fire drill, is there a fire drill, is there a fire drill, at the lane…’, as they all streamed out, heads bowed, beaten by the Mighty Chelsea again. Normal service has continued since Wembley in April.
