Chelsea on alert with Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao impressed by Premier League club’s ambition
Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao has voiced his admiration for Chelsea adding fuel to speculation linking him to the European Champions.
Rumours have been circulating that the 26 year-old could be moving to Stamford Bridge in January, with Chelsea’s misfiring striker Fernando Torres reportedly going the other way as part of the deal.
There is a £48m release clause in the Colombia international’s contract and, with the club in trouble financially, it looks certain that Atletico will cash in, if not in January then at the end of the season.
Falcao, who has scored 10 Primera Liga goals in 10 games so far this season, has also attracted the interest of Real Madrid and Manchester City, but the player seems keen on a move to London.
“Chelsea are champions of Europe and there is not much more to say than that,” Falcao said in the Mail.
“Even after winning the Champions League they still go and sign players of the highest quality. Their ambition is clear.”
