No point is starting with comments like ‘who cares about the league cup’, or ‘shame we haven’t won anything for 8 years’ etc. Nah – not when you find yourself in a semi final against Swansea and likely to meet Bradford in the final. You may as well go for it, even if it is only the two-bob cup. Yes, of course, another trophy, whatever it is. I mean, are you bothered if you go out early doors with a reserve team? No. Would you swap a top 4 finish for the league cup? No. But, as I said, if you find yourself in the semi final you want to go for it. So, to confirm, we wanted to win.
It was an exhibition of decent passing football for the first 35 minutes, without the final part – like a centre forward was missing – that sort of thing. Swansea didn’t get a kick.
Then a mistake by Branislav and Michu takes his only chance with a wonder goal.
Whilst the rest of us can see that it isn’t working, and that the sooner Lamps & Ba come on the better, FSW plays stubborn and keeps his fingers crossed. We were never, ever going to score. We start to panic in the 2nd half. It still doesn’t get changed. 60mins – still no change. Why?
Lamps finally comes on at 70 mins – and tries to get involved. But no Demba Ba. FSW is adamant that he won’t give in. Then, finally… Ba comes on at 81 mins. What a joke. He still managed to have 3 or 4 chances, and was inches offside for a goal.
Will that FSW admit he’s wrong? Will he admit he is stubborn? Will he admit he is absolutely clueless? No. But maybe, just maybe, we’ll see Demba Ba start at Stoke. If not – then we may as well give up for the season.
Hopefully we’ll get done at Brentford – just to show how fkn useless it all is. Well, you know what I mean, and how I feel. It’s just the nature of it all. That FSW. I can’t stand him. Why did he even bother with starting with Torres? It wasn’t working. It was never going to work. Why wait ’til 81 mins for Ba?! Please get rid of him and that FSW – ffs.
Win or lose, up the blues.
