The buck stops with Roman
IT WAS a painful way to be flattered. When Bruce Buck went on to the field at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night to present an award to the goalkeeper Petr Cech, the Chelsea chairman was showered with virulent and sustained abuse. The hostility of the home supporters suggested that Buck is a key influence in the affairs of the west London club and therefore bears substantial responsibility for the turmoil of resentments and dissatisfactions now seething around the Bridge. To anybody familiar with the history of the Roman Abramovich regime, that has to be an intriguingly bizarre concept.
