Mixed emotions at Fulham, me thinks. Whilst Fulham went from the third tier to the PL in his 16 years of ownership, one does wonder if Fayed understood football and its supporters/fans at all. He tried to merge the QPR and Fulham football clubs just so he could make scores of millions from developing Fulham’s Putney Shack ground, which is located at the west end of the desirable Bishops Park area.
He then bizarrely went on to erect a statue to a dead music industry [alleged] paedo at their home football ground (much to the amusement of all other supporters, and) to the embarrassment of his club’s very own fans. I was told a couple of years ago that Fulham had been up for sale since Fayed’s failed residential development plans, and now the Fulham supporters see a US-based NFL team owner of Pakistani origin purchase their club from their outgoing Egyptian owner, who fairly recently sold his Harrods trophy to the Qataris and has failed on numerous attempts to obtain a British passport.
Well, I can say that I’m more than happy with Roman.
