The evening didn’t start off very well – the restaurant put its prices up 20% since the last game. I’m not joking. New menus with a full 20% markup.
Then we get into the ground and barely recognise anyone. No other season tkt holders seemed to have bothered with this one. Well, not in our area. What a good decision they made. But we didn’t know that on kickoff.
We then saw a very one-sided game quickly develop into a training match. Lack-lustre. 2nd gear. No-one seemed bothered. Boring. Down to the bar on 42 mins – no beer, of course (EUFA rules) – for a coffee & Bovril.
“Aren’t you asleep yet?”, we hear shouted. All that possession and we never looked like scoring. Then, fkk me, the cheer goes up – Oscar has scored a decent taken goal right on half time. We saw it on the tv. Then it’s immediately half time.
The subjects of discussion were anything but the shite, boring game. It was a training match. Why was no-one out there bothered? That’s what it seemed. Willian had looked good for the first 10 minutes then we never saw him again. Was Eto’o playing?
2nd half starts – much the same. Still crap. A really crap game. We never looked like scoring a goal. But to cut to the chase, Basel score a decent goal after 3 or 4 good passes. Wake up Chelsea. But we were clueless. Utterly clueless. The inevitable happened and they scored again. We still had possession but got nowhere. No cutting edge. It was a kick up the arse. That was a big hard lesson this evening.
We will find it hard this season.
Let’s move on.
Up the Chels’.
