There is parking the bus and parking the bus. That soppy ignoramus Moose (talksport) is harping on about Chelsea turning up for a point at Arse[nal] and at the mancs. He needs to look a bit deeper, just like those wnkrs on MotD need to.
Yes, a little bit of perspective is required on the Chelsea v pikeys game last night.
So what’s going on, you may ask? Well, there is a lot of talk about the difference between West Ham ‘parking the Bus’ last night and Chelsea apparently doing the same when playing away at Arse[nal] and at OT early in the season. I suggest those who spout this ignorant shite look at some facts…
West Ham managed just ONE attempt on goal last night, while we managed 39 (that’s ‘thirty-nine’). Looking at a few of those attempts (Lamps in injury time, for one) would have seen goals on other days. Many would say we were unlucky not to score, really, but others may choose to ignore that number of attempts in one game. On another night, we would probably have scored half a dozen. But as the saying goes, “That’s football, and these things happen”.
Fair play to that fkn whoopie-cushion oaf Allardyce – his team defended well and, as my old Granny used to say, “You can’t polish a turd”. And he’s got a big pile of that. It’s a shame for the beautiful game that his spoiling tactics were rewarded in the end.
But, do let us take a quick peak at the facts on the Arse[nal] & manc away games.
In our game at Arse[nal], they managed two shots on target. Yes, 2.
The mancs managed just three. Yes, 3. At Old Trafford.
And, Chelsea had more shots on target, as well as more attempts at goal, in BOTH those games.
I would therefore conclude that Chelsea actually controlled both those games. Ok, maybe I would like to have seen a bit more attacking play as both opponents were there for the taking, but it wasn’t to be.
Additionally, Chelsea resorted neither to continuous spoiling tactics, foul play nor embarrassing time-wasting. Last night’s display of spoiling tactics was nothing short of atrocious. None of that was in Chelsea’s games at Arse[nal] or the mancs.
So, like him or not, enjoy his tactics or not, but the next time you hear someone claiming Mourinho to be a hypocrite because he likes to ‘Park the Bus’ when it suits him, these are the salient points to bear in mind.
Hope that puts things into a bit more perspective than has been spouted so far today.
