Leeds United v Chelsea: Neil Warnock and Rafael Benítez to get police orders ahead of Capital One Cup tie
South Yorkshire Police will take the unusual step of speaking with both managers ahead of Wednesday night’s Capital One Cup tie between Chelsea and Leeds United at Elland Road to urge them to ensure their players do nothing that might incite opposition fans.
A specially enhanced security operation will be in force for the first fixture between the two clubs since 2004, with the match classified as being of particularly high risk and football intelligence officers being drafted in from the Metropolitan Police to work with their Yorkshire colleagues.
Chelsea’s away allocation has been cut from 5,000 to 3,000 and the police have already warned that they will take “firm action” against any violence or disorder. They are also urging fans to arrive early for the match.
